Health is not shaped only in hospitals. It is shaped by whether families have access to basic necessities, educational resources, menstrual care, clothing, and lifesaving blood when they need it.
Our drives mobilize our community around those needs. Through local and international partnerships, FutureVitals turns donated resources into tangible action for health equity, literacy, dignity, and well-being.
Our impact is reaching from communities here in Virginia to Kenya, Tanzania, and Nigeria, connecting local action with needs thousands of miles away.

Books Across Borders
847+ books collected for children in Tanzania
What began with collection points across our community grew into nearly 850 books ready to travel thousands of miles. With support from community members and Bon Secours volunteers, we are working with the Tanzanian Children’s Fund to put educational resources into the hands of children who can use them.
Throughout July, FutureVitals brought our community together for a month-long Book and Resource Drive supporting children in Tanzania. Collection efforts reached across the Richmond area, with books gathered at Bon Secours hospitals, Pouncey Tract, River’s Edge Elementary School, and Twin Hickory Park, alongside additional community contributions.
At FutureVitals, health literacy goes beyond understanding a diagnosis or knowing how the body works. It begins with something even more fundamental: access to knowledge. Because health literacy begins with literacy, and access to knowledge should never depend on where a child is born.
Collecting the books is only the beginning. We will be documenting the next chapter of this project as the books are packed, shipped, and ultimately placed into the hands of the children they were collected for.

Clothing With a Purpose
1,784+ pieces collected, sorted, and prepared for impact
More than 1,784 donated items were carefully sorted by size, age, clothing type, and seasonal need so each could go where it would be most useful. In partnership with Vebron Carre, large boxes will travel to communities in Nigeria, while additional clothing will support families experiencing crisis through Mercy Mall locally.
Our team came together for dedicated sorting sessions to prepare every donation for where it could make the greatest impact. Clothing was organized by size, age group, children’s and adult clothing, seasonal and weather needs, and type of garment, then separated based on the needs of the communities they will serve.
Access to basic necessities is deeply connected to health. Appropriate clothing helps protect physical well-being, while having clean, comfortable clothing can support confidence, belonging, and emotional well-being. For a family facing limited resources, something sitting unused in one person’s closet can become an essential resource somewhere else.
Not every donation has to travel thousands of miles to change a life. Remaining clothing from the drive will support Mercy Mall, helping provide essential resources to local families experiencing crisis.

Community Blood Drive

Together with Voices of the Ummah and the American Red Cross, we are mobilizing our community around one of healthcare’s most irreplaceable resources.
Blood cannot simply be manufactured when a patient needs it. Donations help support people facing cancer treatment, traumatic injuries, surgeries, childbirth complications, and medical emergencies. Yet the blood supply depends on ordinary people choosing to give.
For FutureVitals, this drive represents health advocacy in one of its most direct forms. We are bringing young people, families, and community members together to take an action that can directly support patients during some of their most vulnerable moments.
Our partnership with Voices of the Ummah, a Muslim youth-led nonprofit dedicated to serving vulnerable communities including refugee families, reflects something we deeply believe in: stronger, healthier communities are built when organizations come together to serve beyond their own walls.

Period Care Is Healthcare

Through our ongoing drive supporting the Light and Hope Initiative in Kenya, we are addressing a resource that is essential to health but too often treated like a luxury.
Access to menstrual products is directly connected to health, hygiene, dignity, education, and emotional well-being. Yet period products are still too often treated as optional rather than the healthcare necessity they are. Without reliable access, menstruation can become a barrier to attending school, participating confidently in everyday life, and managing menstrual health safely and with dignity.
This drive is ongoing. We are continuing to collect menstrual products to expand the impact of this initiative. If you or your organization would like to donate, partner with us, or organize a collection, please reach out to FutureVitals.
Every contribution helps make period care more accessible and reinforces a simple message. Menstrual health matters. Dignity matters. Period products are a necessity.

Malaria Prevention and Awareness
900+ prevention resources collected and counting
Our malaria prevention drive brings together health education and practical protection for communities in Nigeria. We are collecting mosquito repellent, bug spray, repellent stickers, and disease-awareness materials that help families understand how malaria spreads and how they can better protect themselves.
Malaria remains an enormous public health challenge in Nigeria. In 2023, Nigeria accounted for an estimated 25.9% of malaria cases worldwide and 30.9% of global malaria deaths. Even more striking, Nigeria accounted for 39.3% of malaria deaths among children under five globally.

Malaria is preventable, which makes access to reliable health information and effective prevention measures especially important. WHO identifies young children and pregnant women among those disproportionately affected by the disease.
The educational materials focus on malaria transmission, recognizing risk, mosquito-bite prevention, and when to seek medical care. The 900+ items collected so far will be prepared and shipped to Nigeria in November 2026.
